In Birds and Leaves, the singular bird and larger leaf give an almost human expression. The Blue Crow brings a contemplative message, and the large red leaves, as well as the rhubarb, engage the viewer in thought with their individual personalities.
In Golden Treasure and Wilder Witch Hazel, a series of monotypes, the witch hazel leaves and branches act as a talisman for healing. Two leafy branches intersect in a lively interchange a conversation in various colors and shapes. Witch Hazel has a long history in the service of human health including usage by Native Americans and the early settlers. The title Golden Treasures series comes from the name of 19th century healing Witch Hazel tonics.
